“We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
Have you ever tried to hold smoke or hug fog? Just because you can see it doesn’t mean it has substance. So also much of what is passed off as “love” in our culture evaporates as soon as you touch it. Not so with the love that Jesus commands from His followers. There is a love you can see, touch, and taste in service, sacrifice, and forgiveness. Will it evaporate too? Not when it is grounded on the Father’s love expressed for us in Jesus.
I encourage you to spend some time in the “love chapter.” No, not 1 Corinthians 13, but in Luke 6:27-38. May it challenge you to a love with substance.
