You Were Made To Be Super

“My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.” – 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

There is a reason superhero stories continue to be popular. There is a longing in us to be “super.” Most of us sweep that longing aside as adulthood proves over and over again how “ordinary” we really are.

What if that longing was there for a reason? What if God implants that desire in the heart of a child so that they will look for power as an adult? It is true that most will pervert that pursuit of power toward selfish ends or give up the pursuit in hopeless despair. But what if God intends for you to be “super,” to be filled with a power that conquers evil in this world? Maybe the reason we don’t conquer evil is that we have settled for a power-less faith rather than pursuing the power of God? Maybe that’s why we pray so little and worry so much?

You are not a “mere” mortal! You are far more than ordinary! You were made to be Super! Seek the power that comes by trusting in the cross of Christ, the power of God!
