If you haven’t read this story lately, it will be well worth five minutes to read 2 Kings 6:8-23.
Did you see the difference between Elisha and his servant? One looked at the size of the enemy and gave up hope. The other looked at his Lord and rested secure. When the enemy seems to overwhelm you, don’t look at the enemy! Look at the One with whom you’ve taken your stand. It is the size of His army that you should count.
But don’t miss the key first step… you must choose with whom you will take a stand. It was only because of Elisha’s prior allegiance to the Lord that he found such confidence. Even as his nation was fragmenting internally, facing threats externally, and more importantly depending on all sorts of saviors, Elisha took his stand with the One, Unchanging Savior.
With whom have you taken your stand? Only then can you know whose army to count.
